Scandus UK design, manufacture and assemble a full range of public vehicle seating solutions from our centralised manufacturing facilities in the West Midlands at the heart of the UK.
The group was formed in September 2001 and in the last four years we have become a key supplier of a full range of seating solutions to all UK bus-builders including Transbus International, Wrightbus, East Lancashire Coachbuilders, Salvador Caetano and Optare.
Scandus UK have also become a crucial supplier to a large number of UK and European bus operators direct for a large number of spares and replacement seating items including seat frames and trim.
Bus Saloon Seating Ranges
The Scandus UK Scanflex™ range of urban passenger seating needs little or no introduction to the UK bus market. The Scanflex™ range is the seat of choice for many UK bus operators, with it's solid build quality and long standing reputation making it a consistently popular product.
The Scandus Scanflex Ergo™ family of urban seating was developed to enhance passenger comfort to it's maximum. Development of the seat was carried out using Anthropometry and the SAMMIE-CAD man modeling system. The use of deep foam cushions ensures full support at the rear of the seat (directly under the pelvis) and the elimination of the fore / aft cushion curvature removes pressure peaks under the hamstring muscles.

The Glidemaster incorporates a new mechanism that ensures a smooth slow return of the seat base. This allows plenty of time for even the most immobile of passengers to turnaround and sit down prior to the seat returning to the upright position.
Market research found problems with the conventional DDA seats, including passengers falling off tip-up seats due to ‘snap back’ with potential liability claims from operators. The ‘Glidemaster’ was developed to offer the bus industry a DDA compliant range with the advantages of controlled motion return, ensuring a safer environment for even immobile passengers, a fully integrated unit to ease fitting, and automatic return ensuring disability area is always accessible.
